2019 Wordplay “41 Across” Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The lead into 2019 Vintage was a dry yet mild growing season. Cabernet threw a small crop and weathered the hot summer like a trooper. The ripening period was warm but even and the flavours and tannins developed evenly and purely. Harvested at optimum ripeness in early March. The berries were like tiny .22 calibre bullets of delight.
As soon as this wine smacks your palate, the intense red berry flavours of cherry and raspberry tantalise, then endure to close with a hint of cassis complexity. Fine grained tannins give the wine lasting complexity and integrated structure. Barossa Cabernet is a law unto itself!!
