A love of wine, agriculture and great conversation inspired the release of Wordplay Wines.
It all started with the purchase of a beautiful 10-acre vineyard in Marananga, perched on the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley, where red clay soils are rich in ironstone and quartzite.
Our ‘Jenke Road Block’ is planted to Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon and we have tended to these vines for close to 15 years. We believe Marananga is the heart of the Barossa Valley and our vineyard provides the ultimate fruit to make ‘dark wines’ that age beautifully in the bottle overtime.
Together, we have followed our nose around Australia and the world, exploring our love of wine and travel but always returning to the Barossa Valley as home. Between us, we have enjoyed long and varied careers in the industry, making wine for Hardys, Barossa Valley Estate, Penfolds, Chateau Reynella, Leasingham, Leo Buring, Yalumba, and last but not least, Seppeltsfield, where we lead the winemaking team today.
Wordplay Wines express all we have learned along the way, with 2018 marking the inaugural release.
