2017 “An Anagram” Barossa Valley Shiraz

Record winter and spring rains and a cool growing season meant that the 2017 vintage was bountiful, late ripening, and was effectively dry grown. Long and cool ripening creates marvellous complexity. Harvested in late March, the large berries resonated with a compote of dark fruit and fine black tea tannins. The ferments benefitted from extended maceration of 13 days before being gently pressed and racked into French oak (40% new). This wine is a brooding melange of black cherries and dark chocolate... Tall, dark, and handsome - this wine has presence and soul!
